Meet Chase Shoemaker

As the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus celebrates 25 years of music, community, and impact, we are proud to introduce Chase Shoemaker as our new Artistic Director and Conductor. As only the fourth Artistic Director in our history, Chase steps into this role at a pivotal moment for DMGMC. His leadership marks both a celebration of the strong foundation built over the past quarter century and a bold step into the future of our artistic vision.

I am thrilled to join DMGMC at such a historic moment and look forward to shaping the next chapter of music that matters.

Looking Ahead

For 25 years, DMGMC has used music to build community, foster belonging, and tell stories that matter. Under Chase’s leadership, that legacy will continue to grow.

Chase’s artistic approach emphasizes vocal health, expressive storytelling, and intentional programming that reflects diverse lived experiences. He is committed to creating performances that challenge us artistically, celebrate who we are, and deepen the connection between singers and audiences alike.

“I look forward to making music together that celebrates who we are, challenges us artistically, and creates moments of joy and connection for both our singers and our audiences.”

As we move beyond our Silver Season and into our next era, we are excited to see how Chase will help shape the future of DMGMC, honoring our history while guiding us toward the next 25 years.
